Off to Sandy Lane marina to get much needed water

We had 2 gallons of water left, half of which is our tea and coffee morning allowance! We need to flush out the tanks after their stinky episode, so we thought the best thing was to return to Sandy Lane marina on Canouan for water, a great opportunity to do laundry and provisioning. We have finally decided after a lot of hesitation and deliberation to head to St Lucia next week. There are a couple of days good wind in the right direction which will make the journey easier for us.

We had a last snorkel in our spot we found yesterday, we were not disappointed, it was teeming with fish and a few nurse sharks. Interestingly not a turtle to be seen and we are so close to the Tobago Cays which is full of turtles.

Rowan wanted to take the narrowest channel out of Windward bay which I was not happy about. We have seen no boats go that way and it has waves breaking on the reef on either side. So with not much good grace he agreed to be sensible and not take a risk! We still took a very narrow channel passed our snorkelling spot, called Snake channel, for a very good reason! I went right up on top of the roof to be on look out. The colour of the sea around us was spectacular. (Just heard, while writing this 24 hours later that a charter boat that knows the area, hit the reef here this morning and lost their rudder with dire consequences!).

It is only 20 minutes across to Canouan so we didn't even get the sails up. Fun to see the harbour master again, life must be so dull for him, we are the only sailing boat in the marina. Just two other boats, both charter gin palaces, which make us look very insignificant. We filled and flushed the tanks and hope that we have done enough to get rid of the sulphur smell. We couldn't be bothered to go out for dinner as we were out last night. I caught up on a lot of laundry loads in the washing machine, much easier when plugged into mains electrics and water. The most amazing thing was the amount of jets landing and taking off at the runway along side us. Rowan had read that the island is branding itself as a playground for millionaires, both ends of the island are gated high end resorts. One of them wanted US$500 from each of us last week, just to go to the restaurant! No wonder there are so many jets. Interestingly Soho house is taking over a resort here too.

We watched Jonny English 2 last night for some light relief, the first movie in months.

I hate to be a bore about the colour of the water but it is incredible!

He's actually pretty big!

Leaving our anchorage, the Swedes and Americans departed early.

Looking out for coral heads from the top of the boat.

Looking over to the Tobago Cays

I'm on the roof as look out as we make our way through the narrow passage between the reefs - called Snake channel!

This is our amazing snorkelling spot which nobody seems to know about.

The lighter areas and reef of the Tobago Cays showing up well from my rooftop spot

Looking towards Canouan where we are heading.

Looking back towards the jagged skyline of Union Island

Out in the middle of the ocean between the islands ........so blue!

Sunset in the empty marina.
